Harmonitron

Harmonic tremolo for iPhone & iPad

Harmonitron is a harmonic tremolo — the lush, swirling, phasey amp vibrato made famous by early-‘60s “brownface” amps. It splits your sound into a low band and a high band and sweeps their volumes in opposite phase, so as the lows swell the highs dip and back again. Use it on its own or as an Audio Unit (AUv3) effect inside your favourite music app.

FAQ

What is a harmonic tremolo? A tremolo modulates volume. A harmonic tremolo splits the signal into low and high bands and modulates them in opposite phase, giving a richer, swirling, almost phaser-like motion instead of a plain volume pulse. Harmonitron’s Voice control morphs between classic (in-phase) tremolo and full harmonic (anti-phase).

Does it work with my other music apps? Yes. Harmonitron runs as an Audio Unit (AUv3) audio effect inside hosts like GarageBand, AUM, and Logic, with full host preset and parameter automation support, and tempo sync that locks the rate to your project.

Why does it ask for the microphone? Only in the standalone app, and only if you choose the microphone as the input source, so the effect can process live audio. Nothing is ever recorded, uploaded, or shared. As an AUv3 plugin, the host provides the audio and no microphone access is needed.

Does it collect any data? No. Harmonitron collects nothing and has no tracking. See the Privacy Policy.
